Transportation to and from the FSA and accommodations are the responsibility of students.
By air the academy is located 20 miles west of the Elko Regional Airport. For flight information and reservations, follow this link to the Elko Regional Airport. The FSA is centrally located, approximately 270 miles from two international airports, Reno International Airport and Salt Lake City International Airport and the Boise Airport in Boise, ID. Students have the option of scheduling flights into these airports and driving to the FSA.
By land students can rent vehicles at the Elko Regional Airport. Follow this link for rental car information.
Students are reminded to allow ample time for flights arriving prior to class and departing after completion of class. It takes approximately 30 minutes to drive from Elko to the FSA.
Accommodations and Visitor Information
FSA students are responsible for their individual lodging arrangements as well as transportation to and from the Academy each day of training. The Academy is located just east of Carlin, Nevada which is approximately 20 miles west of Elko, Nevada.
The Elko area provides a wide range of options for lodging, transportation and entertainment. Many properties in the area provide discounted rates for FSA students. Please inquire about special FSA rates and other amenities when making your reservations.

International Students
The FSA is open to all students, both national and abroad. The FSA
has trained emergency response personnel representing all 50 United States
and nearly 40 countries. For those international students who do not
already possess a travel visa, they will need to make arrangements with
the local US Consulate to obtain a B-1 visa (Business/Tourist). The Fire
Science Academy can provide a letter of invitation for the student, but
we cannot intervene on the student's behalf during the interview process.

The academy is 20 miles west of Elko, Nevada, with the Ruby Mountains nearby, offering some of the finest outdoor recreation and most beautiful landscapes in the West.
