Industrial Fire Fighting

The Fire Science Academy has received worldwide recognition for its industrial curriculum, training props, use of liquid petroleum fuels and its hands-on approach to instruction. Specializing in industrial environments, FSA training focuses on live fires, tactical drills and advanced techniques in a controlled environment. Courses meet or exceed legislated requirements and consensus standards for industrial responders.

Hazardous Materials and HAZWOPER

The FSA trains in containment, confinement and decontamination, with realistic exercises using chemical protective clothing, breathing apparatus and other critical response equipment and tools. Training for hazardous materials response is so specific that federally legislated standards have been set to guide responders through advancing levels of response. In every case, FSA training meets or exceeds these requirements, emphasizing protection of people, property and the environment.

Industrial Emergency Management and Professional Development

Establishing effective command, control and communications at any emergency is vital for the safety of rescuers, victims and the public. FSA training focuses on incident simulations, command systems, strategies and management tactics for crises, from natural disasters to man-made emergencies and terrorism. Courses meet or exceed legislated requirements and consensus standards for incident commanders.

Industrial Rescue

The FSA's capabilities in preparing rescuers for demanding levels of performance are second to none. Classroom instruction is reinforced with field practice using the FSA's unique Industrial Rescue prop field. The FSA Industrial Rescue Prop field features a 60-footh high, multilevel High-Angle tower; 200 linear feet of underground confined space tunnels with varying sizes, connecting several "rooms"; and several surface confined space props. All exercises are conducted in safe, realistic and highly challenging environments.

Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF)

The Fire Science Academy's ARFF training is designed to meet all current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements for airport firefighters and others who respond to aircraft emergencies. The FSA is one of only a few in the world to offer aircraft fire training with liquid petroleum fuel. Our intense live-fire rescue simulations create real-world training scenarios enabling responders to achieve superior levels of incident performance.

Special Topics

To meet industry and company specific demands in specialty areas, the Fire Science Academy offers a range of special topics courses that are not included in our standard Open Enrollment course schedule. Instead, the courses listed below are made available for group training and are available upon request.
