Course Description

Rope Rescue

This 40-hour course provides the skills necessary to operate safely in the vertical environment while performing technical rope rescues. Classroom instruction addresses operating in the high angle environment; software identification and construction; hardware identification and construction; technical rescue knots; rigging; rappelling, belay, and safety line techniques; patient packaging; lowering systems and hauling systems. Field exercises allow participants to practice in all stations of the rescue teams.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Important Notice Regarding Rescue Training:
Students will conduct fieldwork in approved personal protective equipment, working with actual rescue tools and appliances, which can be physically and mentally strenuous.
