Course Description

Incident Command Emergency Response

This 32-hour course is targeted to personnel with incident operations and management responsibilities, including firefighters, fire brigade members, company officers and key management staff. It includes an overview of the National Interagency Incident Management System (NIIMS) and its application to emergency incident management in the industrial setting. Classroom instruction addresses practical use of the incident management system on simulated industrial incidents involving fire, hazardous materials and emergency medical situations; hands-on practice of the positions needed during emergency incidents and communication and organization skills to effectively manage emergency incidents, personnel and resources. Students participate in making decisions and managing incidents during real-time simulations of industrial emergencies.
