Course Description

Wildland Firefighter (FFT 1)

This 40-hour course, targeted to any person or contract firefighter who intends to meet the minimum standards to participate in wildland fire suppression – particularly lands managed by federal agencies, meets the requirements for Wildland Firefighter II and I established by the NFPA and the National Wildland Coordinating Group (NWCG). Classroom and hands-on field exercises address basic incident command; fire behavior; safety and suppression techniques and hand crew and engine basics.

Students must provide documentation of a current physical from a medical physician indicating student's ability to participate in the associated work capacity test.

Important Notice Regarding Wildland Training:
Upon successful completion of course and subsequent position task book, students will receive the FSA NWCG-compliant Red Card displaying updated qualifications.
