Course Description
Advanced Exterior Industrial Firefighter
This 32-hour course, targeted to fire brigade members and firefighters with training and experience fighting Class B flammable liquid fires, builds on basic skills and knowledge by introducing Incident Command, foam application, and increased emergency identification to the classroom. Classroom instruction and hands-on field exercises address an expanded discussion on effective streams including physical characteristics and effects of water streams and reading the fire to determine effectiveness; fixed fire protection systems; foam application rates; rim fires on floating roof tanks; subsurface injection; slop over; pipeline emergencies and management principles and concepts of Incident Command. Field exercises offer increasingly complex live-fire evolutions.
For acceptance to this course, students must meet the prerequisite of attending the FSA Entry-Level Industrial Firefighter course or have received equivalent training.

Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA):
For the safety of all students, SCBAs are required and provided by the
FSA for all open-enrollment fire fighting courses.
