Course Description
Entry Level Industrial Firefighter
This 32-hour course, targeted to entry-level firefighters and fire brigade members, presents the basic concepts of industrial fire control. Training meets selected objectives of NFPA 600 Standard for Industrial Brigades at the advanced exterior fire brigade level and OSHA 1910.156 requirements for exterior fire brigades. Classroom instruction and hands-on field exercises address chemistry of fire and fire behavior; effective streams; recognition and identification; personal protective equipment (PPE); critical incident stress management and suppression of flammable-liquid and gas fires using water and dry chemical extinguishing agents. Field exercises simulate incidents that reflect facilities and conditions encountered in liquid-fuel fires.

Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA):
For the safety of all students, SCBAs are required and provided by the
FSA for all open-enrollment fire fighting courses.
