Course Description
NWCG S-230 Crew Boss / Single Resource
This 24-hour course is targeted to personnel desiring to be qualified as a single resource boss. This training meets the requirements for NWCG S-230. Through classroom instruction students will become proficient in the performance of duties associated with the single resource boss position from initial dispatch through demobilization to the home unit. Topics include operation leadership, preparation and mobilization, risk management, safety and tactics, offline duties, demobilization and post incident responsibilities.
For acceptance to this course, students must be qualified as a Wildland Firefighter I (FFTI) and show successful completion of Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior (S-290).

Upon successful completion of course and subsequent position task book,
students will receive the FSA NWCG-compliant Red Card displaying
updated qualifications.
